Prisons Service justifies selection procedure in granting amnesty The Ghana Prisons Service says due diligence is followed in granting amnesty to prisoners so that those who are set free do not go back to crimes. The service said statistics showed that the number of released prisoners who go back to prisons is minimal. Amnesty International has raised issues with the selection process, saying it allows ex-convict to go back to prison. But the Public Relations officer of the Prison Service, Vitalis Ayeh insisted that the service follows laid down procedures in granting amnesty to deserving prisoners. GBC
