Over 80 thousand LEAP beneficiaries enrolled unto NHIS

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur says about 82,154 LEAP beneficiary households have been registered onto the NHIS, representing 56 per cent coverage nationwide. 

She said more than 25 thousand prison inmates and elderly men and women over 65 years have also been registered onto the scheme across the country. 

Speaking at a free NHIS registration organised by the Ministry for the vulnerable in the Ada East District in Accra, Mrs Lithur said distribution of the urban elderly welfare card  which will enable the aged to pay half the fare when they board Metro Mass and other state transport is on course.
