The Daily Graphic says that yearly commemoration of Republic Day mostly involve men and women who have contributed to the country's development. The paper believes senior citizens who may be considered unsung, need to be given recognition during the day. It suggests that, if influential men and women in small communities who may not have achieved much are involved, they will not feel left out. The paper believes that the nation will be blessed if these elderly ones are recognised no matter how little or insignificant they contributed to the nation.

The Ghanaian Times condemns the indiscriminate manner with which ECG is going about its exercise to recover debts from its customers across the country. The Paper believes that, though the step taken is in the right direction, schools, hospitals and other essential facilities have to be left out because of their peculiar nature. The Paper says, since most of these institutions do not pay for the power consumption on their own, the exercise to disconnect them will rather inflict hardship on innocent people who are not to blame for the non-payment of bills. Again, the paper wonders if all customers will be able to pay their debt for ECG to come out of its difficulties.
