Both the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times write on Ghana's Republic. The Graphic wishes Ghana a happy Republic Day. It believes that after gaining independence from colonial rule the country cannot be complete if it fails to take care of its social, economic, financial and development needs. In this light, it urges the public to contribute to the success of this year's election.

The Ghanaian Times wonders where Ghana stands as a nation with regards to its Republic status. It is puzzled about what might have happened to the laudable ideas the first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah espoused on the day of his inauguration. The paper is of the view that the country has not achieved any of the things the first President spoke about. It is worried about the development rate of the country and believes Ghana is nowhere near a wealthy nation. This day should be a period for reflection to find out where the country went wrong and effect the necessary corrections.
