Rehabilitation works on Peduase-Ayi Mensah stretch of Aburi Highway begins

The Ghana Highway Authority announces that the Accra bound carriageway, from Peduase Lodge to Ayi Mensah on the Accra-Aburi road will be closed to vehicular traffic for 5 months. 

The Aburi bound double carriageway will be converted into a single carriageway which will be open to traffic. 

The Accra bound carriageway will be closed at 6 am today until 19th November, 2016. 

The closure is to enable the contractor to start the physical repair works on the scarp along the Ayi Mensah-Peduase Lodge Road. 

As an alternative, motorists may also use the Kitaase-Berekusu road. 

Motorists are advised to co-operate with traffic wardens at Ayi Mensah and Peduase Lodge ends of the roads and also follow directional signs along the route to ensure safe execution of the works.

Meanwhile, residents along the Kitaase-Berekuso highway have raised concerns about government’s directive for motorists to use the road as a diversion as the Peduase-Ayi Mensah stretch closes for renovation works. 

The residents complained that the stipulated road for use is in bad state. 

In a related development, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Inusah Fuseini has denied complaints that the Kitaase-Berekusu road  is in a bad state. 

Reacting to residents concern about that stretch of road, Mr Fuseini said work has started to put that highway in good shape since it is going to be very busy. 

He also touched on the newly constructed Dodi-Pepeso road which is reported to have begun developing pot holes. 

He said that road is still in its defect-liability period where the contractors are expected to detect faults and fix them.
