Lead campaign against reckless political conduct – NCCE

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has rallied women groups to lead the campaign against reckless political conduct and intolerance. 

Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of the Commission, Arthur Wilson, said women need to play a central role in efforts at preventing violence before, during and after this year’s general election.  

He was speaking at a day’s workshop held at Jachie in the Bosomtwe District to discuss ways to avoid tension and keep the country calm as the political parties canvassed for votes.

The programme was organized by a local NGO, Millennium Child Support Group, with support from STAR-Ghana. 

Mr. Wilson said it is important for the political parties and their supporters to be measured in their pronouncements and accept to accommodate opposing views.

The leader of the NGO, Ato Parker urged politicians to put the nation ahead of individual ambition, convenience or comfort.  

They should also adhere to the political parties’ code of conduct to remove needless tension.
