PURC spends almost 100, 000 Gh. Cedis on Christmas hampers for 2012- Report The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, PAC, has expressed its displeasure with the PURC for spending almost one hundred thousand Ghana Cedis on Christmas hampers for 2012. The Vice Chairman of the PAC Samuel Atta Akyea said when a public entity moves out of its way to spend a huge amount on gifts, it calls for worry. He said this at the committee's sitting with the PURC on Tuesday, June 14 2016. A member of the PAC, Isaac Assiamah said the move by PURC shows that they disregarded a directive by late President Mills on the giving of hampers. The Executive Secretary of the PURC, Samuel Sarpong however, explained that considering the number of recipients of the commission's end of year gift, the hampers were the most cost efficient option. He said the accountable impress to purchase the hampers have since been retired and verified by the auditors. GBC
