Police intercept weapons in Tamale The police in Tamale have retrieved three AK47 assault rifles, 160 rounds of live ammunition and three magazines concealed in a bag of rice at Sankpala station in Tamale. This became possible through an informant, but the suspect Dapaa Djaboni was not at the scene when the police arrived, but the items in the rice bag were found after a search. Briefing the media, the Deputy Northern Regional Commander, ACP Akrofi Oyiri Edward, said the items are believed to have been acquired in Cheriponi. The suspect, Dappa Djaboni, hails from Porto near Kintampo where there are intermittent clashes due to chieftaincy disputes between the Bawa and the Chawchaw gates. ACP Akrofi Oyiri said the suspect has been on police wanted list and appealed to the general public to report to the nearest police station if they come across him.
