The Daily Graphic expresses concern about the impasse between the Public Utility Workers Union and PURC. According to the paper, the situation is not conducive for industrial harmony especially when the two entities must aim to uphold public interest by providing stable but affordable power supply. The paper recounts increase in electricity bills, over billing, complaints from consumers and the latest directives by the PURC asking the ECG to suspend its new billing software. Workers of ECG are displeased with that directive and have given PURC a seven-day ultimatum to retract it. On the other hand, PURC maintains its directive is to ensure value for money. The Graphic in all these calls on both parties to urgently resolve their differences to avoid going back to the dumsor experience.

The Ghanaian Times also discusses the PURC ECG impasse. In the view of the Times, relations between the two bodies should not be confrontational but a dialogue. The paper says confrontation is unnecessary and would only add up to the challenges faced by electricity consumers. The paper shares in the frustration of the ECG workers and urges all parties including government to resolve the matter amicably. 

The Today Newspaper says the Power Ministry must take the overbilling issue seriously. To the paper, the latest development leaves consumers of electricity saddled with over billing. It urges government to address the issue once and for all.

The Daily Heritage comments on the statement made by a former National Chairman of the NPP, Mac Manu, that the party will declare its election results. The paper says for a political party to declare on election will lead to chaos. It calls on Mr Manu to retract the statement and political parties to exercise circumspection on political platforms.
