ECOWAS Leaders urged to eliminate trade barriers

The lack of political will by ECOWAS member countries is still a major challenge to the elimination of trade barriers. 

The Director of Trade, ECOWAS Commission, Dr Gbenga Obideyi, said the numerous barriers continue to affect growth. 

He said eliminating the barriers will improve competitiveness and increase trade flows which can drive growth, reduce poverty and create jobs. 

Dr Obideyi was speaking in Accra at the opening of a Technical Workshop on Improved and Facilitated Trade in West Africa Project which seeks to unlock transit challenges across key trade corridors.
