Cecil Nii Obodai Wentum

Cecil Nii Obodai Wentum was born in Accra on the 4th January, 1972. He is an energetic, motivated and highly dynamic broadcast journalist, with an over 10 years experience in the field of electronic journalism. He possesses excellent skills, extensive experience and proven track record. Cecil is a proactive leader, with an outstanding record in managing air programmes, and other social activities.

In addition to his broadcasting flair, he has admirable negotiating skills, with the proven ability of capitalizing on opportunities to forge and consolidate openings in the competitive global market. This makes him a strategic visionary and team player. He also believes in the philosophy of continuous improvement and exchanging information and ideas at all levels. Cecil is also an innovationist and a concept development scientist

Cecil attended the Ghana Institute of Journalism and obtained Diploma in Communication Studies. He went further to pursue a course at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration where he obtained BSc in Operations and Project management.

He also holds Certificates in Radio Production Techniques by the British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC); Radio Production/Software Broadcasting from Radio France International(RFI) and Effective Media Planning also from British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC)

Cecil has handled over 39,000, interviews between the periods of 1998 – 2011. Key among them, are documentaries and features produced on the environment, nature, water pollution etc.

Currently he is the Host/anchor man for the programme, Uniiq Breakfast drive on Uniiq Fm from Mon – Friday at 06:30 - 10:00 am which is broadcast live Broadcast. He also currently hosts “STAND OUT, a live personality profile for news makers,& celebrities.


He also hosted “This is Country”, Live country music presentation on Uniiq Fm on Sundays from 09:00am – 11:00am from 2001-2005. He has also been a TV host on GTV for the programmes ‘Veterinary Medicine’ and ‘Your Health’ in 2007.

Among some of his achievements, Cecil Spearheaded, and led an initiative for the establishment of the Country Awards Council – Ghana Office. The country Awards Council – Ghana (CACG) is an NGO established in 2006 dedicated exclusively to using excellence awards, a new paradigm for championing accelerated and sustained national development in Ghana.

CACG comprises four principal agencies. These are the Ghana National Honorary Awards of Fame, the Ghana National Exchange Programme School, the Ghana National Best Youth Challenge Award School and CACG – Foundation for National Youth Development.

Cecil also successfully re-positioned all programmes on radio to increase listener participation and listener population nation wide, he was thus voted best worker in GBC in the year 2006.

His role models are Nelson Mandela, Kwame Nkrumah and Barrack Obama.
