Champions League: Atletico beat Bayern Munich in semi-final first leg

Atletico Madrid gave themselves the upper hand in their Champions League semi-final with five-times winners Bayern Munich after winning the first leg 1-0 at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

Saul Niguez got Atletico off to the ideal start on 11 minutes, weaving his way through the German lines to finish with a delightful curling effort.

It turned out to be the only goal of the encounter.

The Spaniards head to the Allianz Arena next week for the decisive second leg with a slight advantage as they hunt a second Champions League final appearance in three seasons.
