Government to cover all expenses for Odoi Mensah’s body return from China
 
Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts said on Monday that government had agreed to bring back the body of the late Actor Samuel Odoi Mensah from China.

“The President has agreed and promised to support the family of our brother Mr Odoi Mensah by covering all the expenses that will amount to the flying of his body down from China to the country,” Mrs Ofosu-Adjare said.

The Sector minister revealed this to the family of the late Odoi Mensah and the Press when she paid an official visit to his residence in “Teshie” Greda Estate, a suburb of Accra to commiserate with the family.

The late Odoi Mensah was the former President of the Actors Guild who died on April 11, in China.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare described the late Odoi Mensah as a great talent, who contributed immensely to the creative art industry and it is government’s plan to give him a befitting burial.

“It is our problem together, now we are thinking of how his body is coming home and plan a befitting burial for our brother.

“We hope that we will be consoled, he has done his part in the industry,” she said.

The Minister and his entourage presented two bottles of Schnapps and 10 boxes of Voltic mineral water to the family.

Mr Robert Nii Kwao, Family Head of the late Odoi Mensah, expressed happiness about government’s commitment towards the arrangement taken to support the family.

“We will cry but now we are assured of his body coming home,” he said

Mr Abeiku Sagoe, Van Vicker, Don Ziggy, Madam Edinam Atatsi were among members from the Creative Art Industry as well as  some staff from the National Theatre present to sympathise with the family.

A book of condolences has been opened at the late actor’s house for the public.
