Anas expose: Supreme Court to give judgement on May 26 The Supreme Court has set the 26th of next month for judgement on a suit filed by some implicated High Court Judges in the judicial corruption scandal. Justice Paul Dery and Justice Gilbert Ayisi Addo filed the suit over the Chief Justice's decision to slash their salaries by half and also suspend their allowances except rent. They sued the Chief Justice, the Judicial Council, the Judicial Secretary, the Director of Finance of the Judicial Service, the Pay Master and the Controller and Accountant General. The court however questioned the inclusion of some defendants to the suit describing it as unnecessary. The Court therefore struck out the Director of Finance of the Judicial Service, the Pay Master and the Controller and Accountant General from the suit. Counsel for the plaintiffs, Sika Abla Addo withdrew an earlier motion and prayed the court to adopt a new one filed today. It is the plaintiffs' prayer that their full salary and allowances should be restored. The two have been interdicted pending the outcome of investigations into the bribery expose by Anas Aremayaw Anas. They are demanding five reliefs which include a declaration that the decision to put them on half salary is unconstitutional. Meanwhile the Supreme Court also adjourned sine die another suit filed by Justice Uuter Dery, Justice Ayisi Addo and Justice Habib Logoh challenging the legal capacity of Tiger Eye PI to petition the President for their removal from office. This followed a plea by the state for more time to file its Statement of Case. The three implicated High Court justices are invoking the original jurisdiction of the court to declare that the petition by Tiger Eye PI for their removal as Justices of the High Court is inconsistent with the Constitution because the company lacks legal capacity to do so. The plaintiffs also want a declaration that the President’s referral of the petition to the Chief Justice to establish a prima facie case against them is in contravention of Article 146 sub section three of the constitution. They further want the court to nullify the petition filed by Tiger Eye PI against them as it has no legal capacity to file the said petition and a perpetual injunction against any investigative or adjudicative body from determining any issues arising out of the petition. The plaintiffs further want a restraining order to prevent the Chief Justice from proceeding further with the impeachment process. GBC
