Chad President re-elected for fifth term

Chad’s President Idriss Deby has been re-elected for a fifth term in office. 

Election officials say, Mr Deby garnered 61.56% of the votes from about 76 percent turnout.  

Deby, 63, has been the leader of Chad since 1990 and has survived several rebellions against his rule.
