Three trafficked Nigerian girls return home

The three Nigerian girls, who were recently rescued from a human trafficking ring in Tamale, have returned to their home country. 

The Northern Regional Police Command rescued the girls from forced prostitution last month and notified the Nigerian High Commission in Accra which facilitated their return yesterday and gave the assurance that the three will undergo medical examination and counseling on arrival in Nigeria. 

Two of them were brought into the country under the pretext of marriage while the third was brought to Tamale by her sister, but they ended up forcing them into prostitution. 

They were abused daily as they failed to meet the daily sales target set by their managers. 

The Nigerian High Commission established contacts with the parents of the girls and they expressed willingness to cooperate with the Nigerian Police for further investigation. 

Meanwhile, the three suspects on remand will reappear in court on Thursday, the 21st of this month.
