The Ghanaian Times backs the minister of Defence Dr Benjamin Kumbuor for an amendment of the laws to permit the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to execute its own infrastructural projects and services. The Paper says it is frustrating that an institution which has the personnel with the requisite skills to perform a job, has been sidelined and the projects awarded to private companies, some of which may not have the capacity to execute the projects. The Times explains that in the end these projects are abandoned and the GAF is left with no option than to consider re-awarding the contracts to new contractors. In the paper's view the Military should not only be allowed to handle its own jobs but take up other jobs as an income generation measure. The Paper stresses that the GAF should be able to compete with the private firms in bidding for contracts.
 
The Daily Graphic bids the NPP MP for Abuakwa North, J.B Danquah Adu farewell as he begins his final journey home today.  The paper says the murder of the MP who has been described by many as a decent, easy-going and philanthropic entrepreneur and politician was not only a big blow to the NPP but also his family and the state.  The Graphic is of the opinion that special attention is needed from the law enforcement agencies to ensure that people who inflinch fatal wounds on others are made to face the full vigours of the law.  It says, Mr. Danquah Adu may be gone but the state can do a lot in his memory by nipping the callousness and wickedness that do not put premium on human lives in the bid.
