CSIR calls for improved purification of water for consumption The Director of Water Research Institute of the CSIR, Dr. Joseph Ampofo says water purification is critical in the treatment of water for drinking. He said though the current purification system by the Ghana Water Company cleans algae in the Water resources it is not totally safe for consumption as the purification not able to entirely remove the hazardous chemicals being introduced by negative human activities. Speaking to Radio Ghana on research findings on purification of Ghana's water, Dr. Ampofo said pollution of water sources with chemicals or dumping of refuse must be stopped outright. He said the level of pollution is causing health problems, such as kidney, liver problems and also cancer, a situation he says is becoming a serious national issue. GBC
