Fire at GHANASS needs speedy investigation

The Chief Fire Officer, Dr. Albert Brown Gaisie, has called for speedy investigations into the circumstances that led to the fire outbreak in two girls dormitories at Ghana Senior High School [GHANASS} in Koforidua in the Eastern Region. 

He made the appeal after inspecting the affected dormitories, Yaa Asantewaa and Nightingale, which has a student population of one hundred and fifty four girls. 

Dr. Gaisie expressed concern over the incident which happened and advised school authorities to inspect the type of appliances that students use in their various dormitories.

He said electrical wires should also be re-checked every ten years. 

Meanwhile, the Headmaster, Very Rev Abraham Osei Donkor has asked first and second year students to go on holidays while the authorities fix the situation. 

The school would have ended the term on Wednesday March 23rd had the fire outbreak not occurred.
