Government provides GH¢138M as fertilizer subsidy Government is to provide a subsidy of 138 million Ghana cedis for the purchase of granular and organic fertilizer for this year's crop season. The amount represents an average of 26 percent for each fertilizer purchased. To this effect the selling prices of compound fertilizer will be 85 Ghana cedis while UREA will be selling at 80 Ghana cedis effective the first of next month. The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mohammed Muniru Limuna announced this at the launch of this year's National Fertilizer subsidy programme in Accra. He said distributors and stakeholders should make sure that farm inputs paid for by government are used for the benefit of the target group and not smuggled to neighbouring countries. Mr. Limuna charged all security agencies to arrest and prosecute any person caught smuggling the subsidized inputs. GBC
