SEND-Ghana trains peace animators along Eastern Corridor

One hundred and four peace animators have been trained and inaugurated along the Eastern Corridor of Ghana. 

They are expected to identify and report early warning signals to prevent full blown conflicts in the area. 

The initiative is part of SEND Ghana’s efforts to promote food security under its FOSTERING project in eight districts along the Eastern Corridor, stretching from Kete Krachi through Nanumba North to Chereponi.

These eight districts have sixty six conflict areas that are being managed. 

It is also home to three curfews including Bimbila, Bunkpurugu and Gushegu. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana in Zabzugu, a Peace Building Officer at SEND Ghana, Daniel Kansaki said the peace animators will also contribute to ensuring an incident free election and help to prevent the threats of terrorists, who could use the porous borders in the area to enter the country.
