Government partners local contractors to dredge critical areas

The Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr. Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, says government`s partnership with local contractors to dredge some critical areas in Accra is sure to address the annual flooding in the capital city.  

It will prevent situations like the June 3 disaster.  

Speaking after inspecting dredging works on the Odaw River and Korle Lagoon, Dr. Agyeman-Mensah said government is sourcing about 600 million dollar funding to help facilitate the project.  

He cautioned the public against throwing garbage into the drains to prevent the choking of the water channels.
