One week mourning for DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni A one week mourning will be held for Deputy Commissioner of Police, (DCOP) Angwubutoge Awuni on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Police Social Centre and Fitness Club behind Police Headquarters from 10am to 6pm. The Police Service and the entire media fraternity was Monday morning hit by the sudden death of one of the best police officer in the country. DCOP Awuni, until his death was the Eastern Regional Police Commander, died at the Police Hospital after a short illness. He was described as outspoken and exceptionally brave, rose through the ranks to become the first Director of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Police Service. Before his appointment as the Director of the MTTD, he was an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the service which later became a department. As a trained journalist, he was once the Director of Public Relations of the Police Administration, now known as the Public Affairs Department, and also served in various capacities at Nima, Tema, Kumasi, Yendi and Tamale.
