Tuberculosis becoming developmental issue - Expert

Out of five people who contract tuberculosis (TB) every hour in Ghana one person dies.  

This is against the background that TB is ranked alongside HIV/AIDS as the leading cause of death worldwide. 

In view of this, the Deputy Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Gloria Quansah-Asare, says TB has become a developmental issue which the service cannot fight alone. 

Dr. Quansah-Asare was speaking at a news conference ahead of World TB Day which falls on the 24th of this month.
