Ghana, Burkina Faso meet to improve cross border security Upper West Regional Security Council is holding a meeting with its counterpart in Burkina Faso to discuss ways to improve cross border security. The meeting also seeks to strengthen collaboration at different levels to deal with potential security threats to both countries. It is being attended by top security personnel from both countries as well as DCEs and government officials. The Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Amidu Sulemana said the meeting is necessary because the prevention of crime has taken a global dimension due to the sophisticated nature it has assumed. The South West Governor of Burkina, Diarra Ambrousei Amuodo, said crime in this region increased in the later part of last year and the first quarter of this year. He said nine deaths have been recorded between this period with many of the culprits either escaping into Ghana or Abidjan. The participants will issue a communiqué at the end of the meeting today.
