Speaker of Parliament Sworn In As President of Ghana 


The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho in accordance with article 60(11) of the constitution was on Wednesday, March 16 2016, sworn-in as acting president of Ghana following the absence of President John Dramani Mahama and his Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur who is also on an official visit to the Republic of India.

The Speaker, Edward Doe Adjaho, is to act as President till Saturday the 19th of March. 

Mr. Adjaho announced this on the Floor of the House having received communication from the President. 

He read the Communication to the MPs.

Shortly after the announcement, the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood was ushered into the Chamber to swear the Speaker in as acting President of the Republic.

The Speaker took the Oath of Office and allegiance.

The First Deputy Speaker, Ebo Barton-Odro who was in the Chair for the brief ceremony, invited the Chief Justice to administer the Oath.
