4000 people displaced in Myanmar following conflict Armed conflict that erupted in early February in Myanmar's northern Shan State has displaced an estimated 4,200 people in the area, according to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Since 2011, more than 240,000 people have been displaced in Myanmar, mainly in Shan State and in the coastal state of Rakhine. "Our humanitarian colleagues are following up with local partners for more information. State authorities, local groups, the Myanmar Red Cross Society, as well as the UN and international NGOs, have provided relief items and services at displacement sites" the UN Spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric.
