Police administration poised to ensure peaceful elections 2016


The Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor, has expressed the police administration’s resolve and readiness to provide utmost security for the various political parties to enable them campaign and contest in a free and fair atmosphere. 

To this end, the administration has commenced the IGPs Dialogue Series which will include all stakeholders such as leadership of the various political parties and youth groups to deliberate on how they can work with the police administration on proactive measures to ensure peaceful elections come November 07. 

Interacting with personnel of the upper east regional command in Bolgatanga, Mr Kudalor, urged all regional and district commanders to meet with stakeholders with the view to appreciating their problems and assist in providing solutions. 

The IPG’s working visit formed part of the police administration’s plans and preparations towards the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections. 

It is also his first time he is visiting the region after his appointment into office as the Inspector General of Police. 

The IGP was accompanied by Director of Services, COP James Oppong Boanuh, Director of Operations, COP Christian Tetteh, Director of Communications, Chief Superintendent Amo Ayisi, Communication Officer, Formed Police Unit, CS Hamza Ayikanbe Yakubu and the Director of Public Affairs, Superintendent Cephas Arthur. 

IGP John Kudalor inspected the parade. 

After the inspection of the parade, there was a demonstration by a team of police personnel specifically trained on how to control angry mob or mass demonstrators during the elections. 

Mr Kudalor was impressed about the skills and tactics exhibited by the team. 

According to the IGP, his visit is to ensure that the various regions as are well prepared in terms of trained personnel and logistics as well as institute proactive measures to prevent the re-occurrence of violence in the upcoming elections. 

He underscored the urgent need for the all Regional Command to reciprocate the dialogue series in the various regions. 

Mr Kudalor said the upper east regional police command for the past few months has scored an incredible mark in the League of Professionalism in the administration. 

He said he has develop a League table for all regions to allot marks every month on various policing activities adding that at the end of the year, the best three regions will be awarded.
