Expert advocates special allowances for qualified Mathematics and Science teachers

The Dean of the Faculty of Education, University of Ghana, Prof. Jonathan Fletcher is advocating special allowances be instituted for qualified Mathematics and Science teachers to encourage the teaching of the subjects. 

A special primary Mathematics and Science Quiz Competition must also be instituted to get the youth to develop interest in the subject. 

Prof Fletcher was speaking at the 21st Endowment Fund Lecture by the West African Examinations Council in Accra, where he attributed the poor performance of students in Mathematics and Science to the unavailability of qualified teachers in the schools.
