Industrialization and self-reliance, key to reviving Ghana’s fragile economy-Prof Delle  

The National Chairman of the CPP, Prof Edmund Delle says the country’s over dependency on Bretton Wood Institutions was due to lack of commitment and the pursuance of the can do spirit, illustrated by Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah. 

He said most advanced and emerging economies that were far behind Ghana have suddenly risen to their current state because they were highly committed to the development of their local economies.  

He said it was however, regrettable to hear critics referring to the CPP as a historical society, stressing that some of the so called economic giants drew practical lessons from the visionary agenda of Dr Nkrumah to succeed. 

Lamenting on the achievements of Ghana since independence, Prof Delle said Ghana should have been better off than where it is now, considering the solid foundation laid by Ghana’s First President. 

Professor Delle, who is a renowned dermatologist and founder of Rabito Clinic, stated that the ultimate goal of Dr Nkrumah was to ensure an equitable distribution of development through the spirit of industrialization and self-reliance.  

He however, claimed that successive governments contrary to the vision of Dr Nkrumah, have derailed in their attempt to harness this philosophy. 

This, he noted has skewed the country’s development process, hence the need to be focus on building up our own local structures.
