Government committed to its educational obligations - MCE

The Ga West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Sam Atukwei Quaye says government will honor its educational responsibilities by providing the needed school infrastructure and teachers for quality education.

That, he said, will create the right atmosphere for teaching and learning and set a high standard of education in the country.

Mr. Quaye said this during the 59th Independence Day Anniversary celebration at Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The anniversary was on the theme: “Investing in the Youth for Ghana’s Transformation.”

He said the Municipal Assembly is constructing school buildings in the area to add to the existing ones to bring the shift system to an end.

The MCE commended the Municipal Educational Directorate for the role it played to improve the performance of students in the 2015 Basic Education Certificate Examination, which placed the Ga West Municipality at 12th position out of 216 districts in the country, and adjudged the best in the Greater Accra Region.

Mr. Quaye said 13 students who obtained aggregate six in the BECE, recieved a GHC 500 scholarship each for the payment of their school fees.

“This is to serve as a morale-booster to other children in the Municipality to encourage them to learn harder to achieve good results in the future,” he said.

Nii Klotey Boi II, the Ofankor Mantse and the Presiding Member for Ga West Municipal Assembly, urged parents and guardians to provide their children with the necessary educational requirements to enable them concentrate on their studies and become responsible adults in future.
