Many passengers feared dead in fatal accident on Kintampo road


A fatal accident involving a Metro Mass Transit (MMT) bus and a cargo truck loaded with tomatoes on Wednesday night claimed about 47 people.

The accident is reported to have happened around 8pm, few metres away from the Kintampo Township on way to Tamale.

Police officers at the scene of the accident could not readily confirm the number of the dead.

However, reports say some of the passengers are still trapped under the bus. 

The accident has resulted in a heavy vehicular traffic in the area as vehicles queued, waiting for the accident scene to be cleared.

Drivers plying the road are advised to drive with caution.
