Aid workers develop plan to address Ukraine's humanitarian needs


A plan has been developed by aid workers in Ukraine to respond to the "acute humanitarian and protection needs" of conflict-affected people there during 2016.

The UN-led response will target some 2.5 million people, including the elderly, women and children, who are the most in need of assistance.

The humanitarian partners are appealing for $298 million to carry out the plan.

Two years into the conflict, political negotiations have not succeeded so far in bringing the conflict in eastern Ukraine to an end.

A little over 3 million people in the eastern European country are facing deepening hardship, particularly with the onset of winter.

The Humanitarian Response Plan 2016 outlines a wide range of life-saving interventions from food to healthcare, shelter, warm clothing and basic education.
