Ashanti REGSEC affirms curfew in Tafo Township

The Ashanti Regional Security Council, REGSEC, has re-affirmed its decision to impose a curfew on the Tafo Township in the Kumasi Metropolis following a violent eruption that plagued the town. 

The curfew will now remain in force until further notice when the security situation in the town completely returns to normalcy. 

The latest REGSEC decision was taken at an emergency  meeting of the Council in Kumasi today. It was to review the violent clashes and strategize for the days ahead. 

The REGSEC members also had a closed door meeting with the chief of Tafo, Nana Agyen Frimpong at his Palace. 

They urged the Chief to impress upon his subjects to stop any plans of retaliation. They also assured him of continued security protection till the situation normalises. 

The chief asked the REGSEC to keep a keen eye on the Zongo communities and deal effectively with the violence in those areas. 

He told the REGSEC that he had not sold any portion of the cemetery to any private developer and therefore challenged anyone with evidence to prove the claim.
