Security Expert Describes Infractions Of Law As Major Security Concern

A Security Expert at Kofi Annan International Peace keeping Centre, Dr Kwesi Aning says youth intolerance, the use of guns, and threatening language call for serious security concern. 

He told Radio Ghana that the implications are dire but Ghanaians should not entertain fears. 

He touched on how the security situation can be improved. 

In his contribution, the leader and Founder of the United Renaissance Party, Kofi Wayo says although the mistaken shooting of the two brothers at the Mampong Midwifery Training School is unfortunate the situation has arisen because the Police are under resourced. 

He told Radio Ghana that the Police need better conditions of service, insurance and bullet proofs to enable them to perform professionally. 

Meanwhile, the President of the National House of Chiefs, Prof John Nabilla has appealed to all Chiefs and the youth to exercise patience in addressing misunderstandings relating to land sales and management. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana on disturbances in Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions over land issues, Prof Nabilla said if need be the aggrieved parties should go to court to seek redress.


In a related development, a Muslim Scholar, Dr Anass Issah Adusei has described as unacceptable the resort to violence by some Muslim youth at Tafo in the Ashanti Region following a misunderstanding between some Muslims and the Chief of Tafo over a cemetery demarcation. 

In an interview with Radio Ghana, Dr Adusei said the Quran strongly rejects violence in all forms. 

This year being an election year, it has become a matter of concern for most Ghanaians. 

Radio Ghana's George Ankrah finds out from the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rt Rev Professor Emmanuel Asante the road map for peace in the country. 

He said Ghanaians seem to be taking the prevailing peace for granted. 

Rt Rev Prof Asante appealed to Chiefs and Traditional leaders to endeavour to restrain themselves and engage in discussions especially with regards to land issues.
