Akufo- Addo expresses worry over Danquah’s death


The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he is so “worried” after being informed about the death of the MP for Abuakwa North Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu.

Akufo-Addo has therefore appealed to the police to intensify their effort in pursuing the assassins.

“I’m so worried. My condolences to the children and the wife. This is a tragedy and I’m hoping that the police will do a good job to find who is responsible and allow the law to take its course. It will be good for all of us if those responsible for this crime are caught.” He said 

Meanwhile, the NPP has described the “bloody murder” of its MP as “shocking.”

For his part, the Acting National Chairman of the NPP Freddie Blay said the party “is in a state of shock”, adding that the death “is an unfortunate situation.”

It has ordered all party flags at district, regional and national headquarters to fly at half-mast.

The NPP leadership and sympathisers have since been visiting the house of the deceased MP to console his family.

Among them are the running mate of the 2016 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Hackman Owusu Agyemang, Osafo Marfo and others 


Danquah was stabbed to death at his East Legon residence during the wee hours of Tuesday. The police say they suspect foul play and have launched forensic investigations into the case.

Reports say the unknown assailants may have used a ladder to enter the MP’s room through his window to execute their plan.


He left behind a wife and two children.
