'The Lift Sudan Sanction' campaign calls on UN security Council to lift sanctions

The Lift Sudan Sanctions Campaign has described as destabilizing the US Administration's economic sanctions against Sudan under unsubstantiated claims of genocide against its people. 

According to a release signed by the Convener of the Group, Haj Abdel Manan Rahman, the US used all sorts of pretexts to renew its sanctions despite Sudan having resolved the conflict in South Sudan. 

It says the embargo makes it difficult for Sudanese academics to access vital scholarships. 

The statement adds that the US sanctions have contributed to under-development and poverty thus punishing the new generation of Sudanese civilians. 

It is also calling on the UN Security Council to pressurize the US to lift the sanctions.
