Abu Ramadan withdraws voters' register suit Counsel for the former National Youth Organizer of the PNC, Abu Ramadan, has withdrawn the suit filed against the Attorney General and the Electoral Commission over the voters register. The lawyer, Nana Asante Bediatuo took the decision following his submission to the Supreme Court that he has received some new information from the EC which would necessitate an amendment to his suit. However the seven member panel of judges advised him to withdraw the suit for clarity purposes. Abu Ramadan and one other Evans Nimako are challenging the validity of the current voters register and are invoking the original jurisdiction of the court to declare it null and void. The plaintiffs also want an order setting aside the 2012 Voters Register and also compel the EC to compile a fresh voters register before any new public election is conducted in the country. According to the plaintiffs, the current register contains names of unqualified persons which is inconsistent with the constitution. GBC
