Private Transport Owners To Strike From Monday Private Transport Owners have declared a nationwide strike starting next week Monday to protest against a five hundred percent increase in insurance premiums. The group made up of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Ghana Committed Driver`s Association (GCTDA) and the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) said their commercial drivers will not work next week, if the decision is not reversed. Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Chairman of the Ghana Committed Driver`s Association, Charles Danso, said the impending action has become necessary, following the many recent increases in road transport-related charges, and the failure of the relevant state institutions to listen to their cry for a reduction.
