GIGS congratulates CPP and Ivor Greenstreet 


The Ghana Institute of Governance and Security (GIGS) has congratulated the CPP and its 2016 presidential candidate Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet.

A statement issued by GIGS and copied to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, (GBC) says “it is a historic mark and groundbreaking for Ghana’s democracy for the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) to elect Ivor K. Greenstreet, a former general secretary and now the presidential candidate.”

According to the statement, GIGS wishes to encourage Ivor Greenstreet that Franklin D. Roosevelt former president of the United States of America, did it and it can also happen in Ghana. 

The statement which was signed by the Executive Director  GIGS, David Agbee, said “However, it puts a heavy share of responsibility on “voter education” that people with disability are capable of assuming any high office of responsibility in any civilized country.”

It further urges the media to be ethically responsible, since their reporters have what the statement said has a nose for news, they have to observe an “unwritten law” never to photograph him in a wheelchair or his leg braces or to write about his disability and to avoid discrimination since the media has a profound impact in shaping people’s taught on political discourse.
 
It also encourages the press to maintain their cozy relationship with all the political parties and civil society organisations in this crucial election year.
