Mixed reactions to new transport fares

Some taxi drivers, especially on the Madina - Adentan - Circle route have appealed to the Transport Authorities to explain how much they are to charge passengers with the 15 percent transport fare increase announcement. 

The drivers do not also understand the two and four percent decrease in the fuel prices released by the National Petroleum Authority, NPA. 

Antwi Obeng said the Transport Unions and the NPA should have met and agreed on the transport fares before any public announcement. 

Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the National Petroleum Authority, Moses Asaga says the Bench mark price decrease announced by the Authority in the petroleum prices are positive sentiments as a result of the down turn in the prices of crude oil on the world market. 

Mr Asaga told Radio Ghana that the NPA is surprised that the GPRTU and other Unions have suddenly pegged their increase at 15 percent in transport fares instead of ten percent.
