Bole District ranked first on Northern Regional League Table 2015


The Bole District has been ranked first on the Northern Regional League Table of 2015 whiles the Karaga District came last. 

The Bole District also ranked 40th on the Ghana’s District League Table with Karaga District ranking 215th. 

This came to light at an event organized by the Ghana Center for Democratic Development-(CCD-Ghana) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. 

The theme for the event was dubbed “Strengthening Social Accountability for National Development”. 

The Ghana District League Table is an initiative of CDD-Ghana and UNICEF-Ghana and was first introduced in 2014. 

The program is Ghana’s first ever ranking tool used to measure the level of development in each of the 216 districts in terms of delivery across six key public service sectors. 

These include Health, Governance, Education, Security, Sanitation and Water. 

The program aims at strengthening social accountability in development across all the districts to improve responsiveness in district. 

The social policy Assistant of UNICEF, Afua Gyampomaa said all the 216 districts scored zero in sanitation because none of the districts is open defecation free. 

She said 98 districts improved in their rankings. A research officer of UNICEF Mavis Dome Zupork stated that, the program is challenged with access to data.
 
The Major of Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, Abdul-Raham Hanan Gundadow commended CDD-Ghana and UNICEF for their initiative and pledged his support for the program.
