26 Political Parties To Contest November Polls

Pollster and Editor of the Daily Dispatch, Ben Ephson says the move by Dr Hassan Ayariga to form a new political party will adversely affect the fortunes of the PNC in the 2016 election. 

He said the PNC should have seen this coming because it was obvious Dr Ayariga had something up his sleeves after he lost the flagbearership slot to Dr Edward Mahama. 

Meanwhile, a Governance Expert, Prof Baffour Agyeman Dua says the more political parties a country has is likely to propel sectarianism instead of ideological differences. 

He believes it is rather a disincentive to building a strong democracy. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Prof Agyeman Dua suggested that rules should rather be tightened to discourage people from forming political parties under flimsy disagreements.
