Court orders re-run of NPP Klottey-Korle primary 

An Accra High Court has ordered a rerun of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary for the Klottey-Korle Constituency in Accra. 

The Court also dismissed an application by the party's parliamentary candidate for the constituency Valentino Nii Noi Nortey for the default judgement entered for the rerun of the primary to be set aside. 

Two members of the party, lawyer Philip Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah sued the NPP and the Electoral Commission over alleged illegality in the conduct of the primary in that constituency. 

They prayed the court to annul the results of the primary which was held last August and order a rerun. 

The court presided by Justice Patience Mills Tetteh last November entered a default judgement in favour of the plaintiffs following the NPP's failure to make an appearance in court. 

The party subsequently entered an appearance and prayed the court to set aside an out of court settlement. 

The NPP however, failed to use its internal structures to settle the issue and accordingly returned to the court to determine the case.
