44 votes out of 51 were enough for Philip Aboore Adongo, the president’s nominee for the Bolgatanga Municipality to be confirmed as the Chief Executive.

Mr Aboore Adongo will succeed Edward Ayagle, who was relieved of his post by the president leaving the Municipality without an MCE. 

The confirmation means development in the area which had slowed down due to the absence of an MCE will be accelerated. 

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chief executive thanked the assembly members for their support and the confidence reposed in him and promised to work to prove it.

He called for the cooperation of the assembly members, traditional authorities and other opinion leaders in their effort to solve the challenges confronting the Municipality. 

The out going Upper East Regional Minister, James Zuugah Tiigah, who witnessed the event urged members to eschew parochial and partisan considerations and work in unity with the MCE  to develop the municipality. 

He promised his preparedness to help foster unity among the members to push forward socio-economic development. 

Before the confirmation of the MCE, the assembly managed to get a presiding member.

He is  George Ayanoore, who polled  33 votes.  

After broader consultations Mr Abiire who contested Mr.Anyanoore stepped down to pave the way for Mr Anyanoore, saying that he wanted to give him a chance to occupy the position.

Mr Anyanoore thanked Mr Abiire and the assembly for the confidence reposed in him and said his office will be opened to all and he will consult other assembly members to enhance his performance.
