Organised labour to go on demonstration as planned tomorrow unless government reviews both utility price hikes and Energy Sector Levy

Organised Labour says it will only back down  on its  planned demonstration if government reviews both the  utility price hikes and the energy sector levy. 

Government has increased water by 67 point two percent and electricity by 59 point two percent. 

It has  also introduced the energy sector levy which saw the  prices of fuel rise by around 28 percent. 

But organised labour  has  kicked against  this, arguing  that,it will cripple the finances  of  workers and has therefore  scheduled a  demonstration  tomorrow. 

Yesterday,  government at a News Briefing by the  Ministry of Employment and  Labour  Relations,  said  it can only review  the  utility tariffs ,  but not the energy sector levy.  

This the Secretary General of the TUC, Kofi Asamoah has described as  unacceptable and  will definitely go on the  demonstration as planned. 

Labour is  however ready to sit with government on the  matter if it should call for a meeting today.
