Extension Officer asks gov’t to strengthen PPP to help boost food production in Ghana

An Agricultural Extension Officer in the Sagnarigu District of the Northern Region, Iddrisu Imoro has called on government to strengthen the Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the agriculture sector to help boost food production in the country.  

According to him, over the years the Public Private Partnership in the agriculture sector has not been proactive in enough in solving the inadequate inputs and infrastructural challenges facing farmers. 

He disclosed this in an interview with Radio Ghana’s Northern Regional Correspondent, Mohammed Fugu in Tamale last Monday. 

Mr. Imoro revealed that, most farmers in Northern Ghana are willing to expand their farms to increase productivity but are challenged with inadequate farm inputs. 

He recounted the frustrations farmers in the Northern Region went through last season in a bid to acquire tractors to plough their lands. 

He urged farmers not give up as result of the challenges they go through, adding that, farmers are the bread winners of every country and should be proud of their profession. 

Mr. Imoro advised farmers to always engage agriculture extension officers and seek clarifications on their farming activities.
