Court Dismisses Application Against CPA On Utility Tariff Hikes An Accra High Court has dismissed the application by the Volta River Authority (VRA) to throw out a suit filed by the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), challenging the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) over high utility tariffs. The Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA), Kofi Kapito, sued the PURC and four others over the increase in utility tariffs describing it as unfair in view of the irregular and unpredictable service in the country. He is therefore praying the Court to restrain the PURC from going ahead with the tariff increases. Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is expected to be heard on the next adjourned date as it has also filed an application praying the Court to throw out the entire suit. GBC
