The Ghanaian Times in its editorial today is worried that the decision by government to settle the two Guantanamo Bay detainees in Ghana is now turning into a debate of religious and political intolerance. The Paper says it appears everyone is holding unto their position doggedly and refusing to debate the issues dispassionately. The Times says it earlier asked government to rethink the settlement of the detainees in the country but with the President's appeal and explanation it believes the decision has already been made and it will be difficult to rescind the move. For this reason the paper calls for cool heads to reign.


The Daily Graphic in its editorial is alarmed at reports of bedbug infestation in some schools in the Western Region. It says the problem regrettably is not limited to just schools in that region but a nationwide phenomenon. The Paper agrees with the Director General of the GES, Jacob Kor, in describing the situation as a serious health issue for which reason he has directed all regional directors to seek permission to close down such schools for fumigation. The Graphic says there is the need to eliminate bedbugs from all schools to make them environments for effective teaching and learning and indeed for human habitation.
