Rt. Rev. Dr. Setorwu Ofori inducted as Moderator of Global Evangelical Church


The Rt. Reverend Dr Setorwu Kwadzo Ofori has been inducted into office as the Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church to lead it for a six-year term. 

He was initiated together with three other elected executives at an induction service in Ho. 

The three are the Rev. Raphael Mac-Attih as the Synod Clerk, Prof. Reimmel Adosraku as the male presbyter with Mrs. Christiana Esi Bobobee as the female Presbyter. 

Correspondent Maclean Nordzi was at the induction service for Radio Ghana and reports that, the Synod Committee Executive is the highest decision making body of the Global Evangelical Church. 

Under the amended Constitution of the Church, persons elected to these offices will serve a six year term after which they will make way for fresh people to be elected. 
In the past the executives could be re-elected for a second term. 

Delivering the induction sermon, the immediate past General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, the Rev. Dr. Fred Deegbe entreated the new executives to lead with the principles of good governance which required them to be good examples in society and love to serve people. 

He asked them to follow the good example of Jesus and lead the church without looking for riches and honour. 

The Rev. Dr. Fred Deegbe charged the Church to pray for the executives and cooperate with them for growth of the Church and for the work of God to progress steadily. 

In an address, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Setorwu Ofori expressed gratitude to the Church for the confidence repose in him to lead. He advised Christians to live Christ-like lives and not to only emphasis their Christian lives on Sundays but must reflect in their endeavors every day. 

The new Moderator expressed worry about how some Christians of today run in search of miracles which he noted has opened the doors for fake pastors and prophets to dub them. 

He assured that the new executives will however work hard for the Church to achieve its targets, especially in improving the quality of life of Ghanaians and the propagation of the Gospel to the whole world.
